  1. If they did breed, there is a good chance they would produce fertile eggs.  However, due to the virtual impossibility of breeding these species in aquaria, even with their own species, the chances are slim.  There are many known hybrids in the hobby (Flowerhorns, Parrots, numerous South American Cichlids).

    Two different species - it's genetically impossible for them to produce living offspring.

  3. Yes, they are compatible, I think.

    Epalzeorhynchos frenatus= rainbow

    Epalzeorhynchos bicolor= red tail

    However they are aggressive toward one another, and breeding either type in an aquarium is rare.  Chances are one will kill the other.
