Would paying senators/representatives minimum wage w/commission force them to work harder and get more done

Question

The yearly minimum they get paid is around $170,000 and depending on position can get up to around $220,000. But these congressman are usually already higher middle class/wealthy (40 senators are millionaires) citizens.

With all this money you would think a lot is getting done but there is so much bickering between democrats and republicans that they barely get anything done.

If they got paid minimum wage with overtime pay and commission based on quality of bills that actually get passed wouldn't that ensure us citizens that we have people in office who actually care and who are not wanting to be elected for the salary. Also, to get the extra money they would work harder to get bills passed for the commission.

The goverment in every country is corupt. It would not matter if they were paid minimum or millions of dollars/year it would not change. There are far and few goverments that opperate on a balanced budget. If there was the goverment would be frowned upon and hated. Alberta is one of the few provinces that paid of there debt and are now in the black, however Ralph Klien was disliked for what he did.

The amount of pay they recieve(altho rediculus) is a pitance.. Allmost all the Senators and Represenatives of this country are multi-millionaires?????  If not when they get there , by the time they leave???

I agree, I think forcing them to work for there money would force them to get more done.

I don't think they should be paid anything. They don't do anything except spend our money.  In taxpayer salaries and earmarks that line their pockets. It is outrageous and unacceptable.

I think we should make them do what other no income people do, try to file for assistance from the government.  Make them navigate within the systems they will not fix. On any level.

I think all Congressmen should b paid the median wage of their constitutes.
