  1. uuh katakana cos its a borrowed word スポーツ

ill add that borrowed words arent always english...sometimes spanish too or dutch or french and stuff like that just how english uses french and foreign words...

pan is spanish and its also in japanese for bread..パン

  2. 'supootsu' スポーツ comes from the english word 'sports', so it would be written in katakana because its borrowed from the english language. katakana is for all english words, eg hamburger (ハンバーガー), icecream (アイスクイーム), etc.

  3. Hello!

The answer to your question is that the Japanese word for sport would be written in KATAKANA.

Katakana is used for BORROWED words. Hiragana is used for actual Japanese words.

    Examples:

    basketball - basukettobooru バスケットボール

    light - raito ライト

    lion - raion ライオン

    shower - shawaa シャワー

supootsu is also a borrowed word. Therefore it is written in katakana.

    スポーツ

    NOT HIRAGANA.

So non-borrowed words, such as cat "neko ねこ" and dog "inu いぬ", are written in hiragana (an also kanji, but let's not worry about that) because they are not borrowed words.

    Hope this helps you,
