Aren't they basically just victims, too scared to open their minds?

  1. Oh yea I am shaking in my boots right now.and my mind is as closed as yours. That is scary.

  2. no

Aren't they basically just victims, too scared to open their minds?

No are minds are open. If you mean open as in believe the same way you do then that's not being open minded.

Open minded means I can believe in how i want not what I am forced to believe in just because some one tells me so or because I do not believe as some one else.

  3. Would atheists finally feel fulfillment if they could finally accept God?

    How condescending is this question?

    (very)

  4. You have a point there.  Certainly there would be less paperwork.  And for those of us who are polytheists, there can be even more paperwork.

  5. Not victims. They choose to believe their religion over God. One day they will be proved wrong.

God is Love, Love is God.

    Trust Love.

Peace, love, calm and positivity to all.

  6. No. They'd find other shackles. Right quick.

  7. ever since I became an atheist, I'm loads happier!

when you realize the only great power is reality, you can begin to actually live!

  8. Victims? Possibly.

    Scared? Not necessarily.

Belief can be very comforting. Hence, the saying, "Ignorance is bliss."

  9. I feel more free than I ever have with God in my life.  I was atheist until a year ago so I lived without him before and I know what it feels like.  I also would like to think I open my mind very much.  I believe in something that I can't even prove until I die.  I think that is very open minded.  Most of the people today have to have something "proven" to them to believe it.  How open minded is that?  Besides, nothing in this world is 100% true.

  10. Yes they would.! All that religion has is shackles, lack of freedom and no hope for the future. However a relationship with Jesus unshackles you! It frees you! It is the only future of hope! That is why I chose belief and faith in God and Jesus ...not a religion. I have never in my life said "I am of the Christian religion"

  11. yes. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh not God!

  12. Christ break the shackles and traps of this world. He will take you beyond this temporary life to true purpose and reason. Religion is man made but there is nothing better then following Christ. Absolutely nothing better. You seem to have the notion that every religious person is closed minded and scared of knowledge. For me its the opposite. I question everything and as I searched and searched God became clearer and clearer. If you look at the bible prediction after prediction have come true over and over again.

Just one example... Not something I would normally talk about but for some reason its on my mind. The prophet Jeremiah in the old testament even talks about the use of Christmas trees way before Christ even was born.

" 3For the customs and ordinances of the peoples are false, empty, and futile; it is but a tree which one cuts out of the forest [to make for himself a god], the work of the hands of the craftsman with the ax or other tool. 4They deck [the idol] with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers so it will not fall apart or move around."

How do you explain the fact that Jeremiah is talking about how Christ death will be remembered by a worthless tree? This is way before Christs birth.

    Seek and you shall find....

  13. They should do!

Science has shown atheists have a higher intelligence than people with a strong religious faith. The difference is 5.8 points according to findings in developmental psychology!!!

More members of the "intellectual elite" considered themselves atheists than the national average.

Only 7 percent of members of the American National Academy of Sciences believed in God. Whilst only 3.3 percent believed in God in the UK’s Royal Society.

Several Gallup poll studies of the general population have shown that those with higher IQ’s tend not to believe in God."

Evolution in action with Christians getting left behind like the monkeys and apes before them!!!

  14.   The religious people are  the only free people because they know their capabilities and their limitations. They do not waste their time and efforts on vain desires but do only what is beneficial for the hereinafter. Compared to hereinafter the present world is like a hut compared to a palace.

  15. The shackles are in day-to-day life.  Only Jesus brings true freedom.

  16. maybe it just takes a different kind of person. My father turned christian at 45, and speaks of it as though that is the time he was freed.

  17. From 1961 until 1989, I was a victim of sin and a slave to sin with my mind shut down and bolted against the love of God. Upon my salvation, my life blew open wide and my mind was transformed. From that very moment my thoughts changed from bitterness and despair to gratefulness to God and hope for the future.

Not only would I not shackle myself to my old life again, God is His mercy will never permit it.

  18. I think it's like a big club. It seem to provide everything people need by denying them almost everything. Prison is the same way.

  19. If you took away a Christian's bible, they couldn't figure out what to have for lunch.

Some of them are so reliant on a source to tell them what to do that they'd die without it.

  20. No, they're not, really. Not all of them.  Perhaps it is the other way around?

  21. Probably not. fear and personal responsibility are difficult things for many to deal with; many are capable of opening their minds, but only so far. Some implicitly believe mommy and daddy and all the grown-ups they encountered would never, ever lie to them.

  22. You view religious belief as shackles, but not everyone feels that way.  Religion brings great comfort to people, gives them direction, gives them something to do, an identity to cling to, a conceptual framework from which to view the world, tells them how to behave and how to think, who to be friends with, what to eat for breakfast, what to wear, who to hate, who to marry, and makes them feel safe by explaining the unexplainable to them.  Plus, you get to go to heaven and watch all us atheists suffering in h**l.  Some people really do need religion. Who am I to deny them?

  23. if there was no Jesus and no God i would live my life just like i am now.

doing the best i can to do teh right thing all the time.

  24. I wouldn't know what freedom was if it weren't for my relationship with Christ.

    But thanks for your concern.

  25. No.  People follow a religion because it provides something they personally need.  Unless you're fulfilling the need that religion provides to the person suddenly "freeing them from the shackles" would likely do them more harm than good psychologically speaking.

  26. money, lust and greed are far greater shackles on the soul than the blissful law of love of Jesus Christ which sets you free.
