  1. September & October have some of the lowest cruise prices of the year.  The previous respondent was right when they said that cruise ships can steer away from storms; and the cruise line's fine print states that they can change or cancel the ports of call for any reason.

If it's going to be unsafe for the ship or its passengers to visit a port, they won't do it.

Hurricane Season is officially June 1 to December 1 ... 50% of the year.  The most hurricanes, historically, have occurred in September.

(I've sold cruises for many years and am a Master Cruise Counselor).

    Bon Voyage.........

  2. IF you do not mind that your cruise might be redirected, then it is a good time and a cheaper time to go on a cruise.

Fiance and I went on one Aug/Sept 2006 on RCCL's Majesty of the Seas that was supposed to go to the Bahamas.

No thanks to Ernesto (TS), we were redirected to Cozumel, Mexico.

We were not happy BUT since we booked it during hurricane season we dealth with it and had an awesome time anyway.

  3. September is great.  It is the cheapest.    I have not seen a hurricane on a cruise yet.  And if there were to be a problem, then the captain would change the itinerary.  They will avoid these storms.

  4. Anytime is good but be prepared you will probably have more young people during this time. if the hurricanes are at sea the ship takes a different route. We cruised in October and it was fine! Make sure you purchase the cruise insurance ( i don;t believe the hurricane coverage is included) however, it you are delayed in flight/travel beacuse of the weather you will get refunded. This insurance also covers you if you are delayed and miss the ship. The insurance pays so much to fly you to the first port.

  5. We go every year in September.  Never had a problem.  In 2004 we got two extra days as the ports were closed.  It is also the best prices of the year in September.

  6. Yes,  if you are looking to run into a hurricane then I would say that you have a good chance in Sept.

  7. NO!!!!! don't do it! I did a few years ago and had a horrible time!

The cruise was a day late due to the ship being late getting back to port due to a hurricane...then they cancelled 3 ports of call because of the hurricanes and only gave us shipboard credit. The ship was going up and down, up and down...barf bags were in all the halls and the whole cruise was the pits. It was a waste of money and time.

  8. yes because the cruise line will avoid it, if the hurricane is hitting an island you were supposed to visit you will get some sort of credit

for example i went on a cruise out of tampa two years ago but it did not get to leave out of tampa due to the fact that katrina was coming up the gulf, so we left out of ft lauderdale and we all got $50 credit

so at very least you will benefit from it
