They all work. However, it depends on how much power you need!

A 2m diameter windvane will only give about 250W. Theoretically, 2sq.m. should provide some 2.5Kw. From this it is easy to deduce that current windvane technology has a long way to go before it matures.

The application of venturi technology has been recently demonstrated to give in excess of 2Kw for a 2m aperture, but the massiveness of the structure mitigates against mounting one on a domestic building............ there is also the problem with intrusiveness.

Why don't you build your own?... 12v alternator,deep cell batteries, and a DC converter. Should be something in the Popular Science Mag.
