Question:

Would spraying your clothes with Comfort (fabric softener) diluted in water give them a fresh scent?

I want to freshen up the clothes I'm taking on holiday;

They're either new or washed recently and I haven't got time to give them another wash, but they've lost (or don't have) that freshly washed smell.

Would spraying them with a weak solution of Comfort damage them?

Would it even work?

Don't mention febreze! it's horrible.

  1. Don't do this you could ruin some things.  Get fabric freshner, not necesarily Fabreeze.  Even the Pound  Shops sell these, different ones in different shops.  Got one that was lavender the other week but it depends on the smell you like. I actually spray it on my clothes as I iron them and it gives just a nice, light smell.

  2. I wouldn't do that I would put a few dryer sheets in between the clothes in the suite case. It has always worked for me. It smells just like you washed your clothing.

  3. I do this all the time with Downy fabric softener. I take a spray bottle put in a little bit of downy and put water in there, shake it up and spray my clothes. It's never stained and really doesn't leave any more of a "residue" than using a fabric softener on them in the washer. Just make sure you don't use too much softener in the mix. If you're worried it will stain, you should test some on an old shirt or something or on a place where you can't see where you've sprayed it. It works really well and I always get compliments on how clean and fresh I smell haha. I prefer the scent to perfume actually. And you could always take some dryer sheets and tuck them in your suitcase to keep things smelling fresh, that works as well. :o)

  4. it wouldnt damage them but yes i think it would freshen them up but it might leave a residue on them

  5. You may not want the residue on the clothing. How about throwing them back in the dryer for a few minutes with a couple of scented dryer sheets instead?

  6. put a tumble drier sheet in with them for a couple of days

  7. I doubt it, but it would certainly make them a bit soapy. Something like fabreeze would be more suitable for 'freshening up'.

  8. Tumble dryer sheets are better.Give them a quick whizz and all your clothes will smell lovely!
