My three yr old wooden fence has "water marks" where my sprinkler syatem hits the fence during watering? If I stained it now, would the water marks disappear and the fence have a uniform color? Thanks for all answers.

  1. If the fence has never been stained or painted, go to a paint store and ask if they have CWF, (clear wood finish). This will make the unfinished boards look new in just a few days. Then suns reaction through it will bleach it back out and help preserve the wood.

  2. you would have to stain the fence as dark or darker than the water stains

  3. first bleach your fence or use a pressure washer.  funny thing is I owned a pressure washing business and the wood cleaner for a pressure washer is bleach.   So now to clean wood I put bleach in my weed sprayer and after a little time rinse.   After 24 hours you can use wood sealer such as thompsons water seal.  Make sure you use at least 2 coats.

  4. u have to sand it first, then buy a waterproof stain, then stain it on a dry warm day and leave the sprinkler off for 2 or more days...read the recommendations on the can of stain
