Would step sisters be considered as your sibling?

So my dad had a wife a long time ago and had a girl. Then later on my dad and that wife got divorced then later met my mom and had me then divorced and now my dad is somewhere else. My mom told me that i had a step sister. I was wondering if she is a sibling of mine?

I your dad had a girl with another woman.  She is your half sister.

A step sister would not be his child, but the child of his wife and another man.  She would be a step-sibling.

well she wouldnt be your step sister, she would be your half sister because you share the same father

I consider my half siblings and step siblings, my sisters and brothers. Why use labels?

We share the same parents, one way or another and we do have a relationship.

Half-Siblings means you share either a father or a mother, but not both. Step Siblings is when your parent remarries and they had children before this marriage.
