Would swimming help & how?

Hi, I was wondering if swimming would help me tone up my body and if its a good exercise if I want to work out my butt. I want it to be bigger and build more muscle so I figured the kicks and resistance in the water would help. Is there a specific stroke (aside from butterfly I dunno how to do that one) that would help tone up my whole body?

What swimming plan should I do? I was just planning on doing 40 lengths every other day and try to do running inbetween.

  1. Swimming is fantastic exercise for overall toning... arms, chest, abs, legs, everything!  But as far as making your glutes bigger, I don't think so.   I would think a stair stepper and a routine with squats would do that for you though.
