  1. Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome: What is patellofemoral pain?

"Patellofemoral pain is a common knee problem. If you have this condition, you feel pain under and around your kneecap. The pain can get worse when you're active or when you sit for a long time. You can have the pain in one or both knees.

The exact cause of patellofemoral pain isn't known. It probably has to do with the way your kneecap (patella) moves on the groove of your thigh bone (femur). "

From the description above of patellofemoral pain (knee) syndrome, I would say that it is worth trying glucosamine. I know of someone who takes glucosamine for hip pain and it helps quite a bit. Very many others take glucosamine for arthritic-type pains and sports injuries and claim relief. Its even recommended by many GPs and Consultant Orthopedic Surgeons who have an interest in alternative medicine.

I would try 500mg twice a day. Do persevere as it can take some time to see effects. You could try reducing the dose if things improvem ut only after you have felt some improvemengt for some time. I would also increase your use of turmeric in your cooking - you can add this to rice. If you don't use turmeric this way then you can buy this in supplement form. It does also help with joint/knee pains and stiffness. Another herb worth trying is ginger as it offers some natural pain relief. You can buy this in drink form (non-alcoholic ginger ale) or use pwdered ginger in a tea or biscuit form.

    Best wishes.
