I know I asked this question before, but I didn't get many responses.
Suppose something happened like the Penguins scored a goal at the buzzer to win it in OT. The play is reviewed, and the goal is VERY boarderline, but after close examination one will see that it was NOT a goal. Do you think the goal judges and the people in Toronto (knowing it was not a goal, though it was very close) say that it WAS a goal in order to extend the series to six games, and possibly a seventh? That way they have more revenue through ticket sales, advertising, NBC will have more viewers, etc.?
I know that they have instant replays and it is based on what the refs saw, but it is very difficult for the refs to determine if the goal went in past the buzzer or not, as it is tenths of a second. Also, I have seen goals that were allowed or disallowed when they should not have been, so I'm wondering if the judges would actually allow it to extend the series.
