Would the THC in my system effect a person I donate blood to?

I want to donate blood, I'm type O+ so I always figured it would been good to donate but I'm a little bit worried about donating because I smoke pot. Would there be any chance of ill effects for the person receiving my blood?

no, unless you have shared a smoking device with someone that has any kind of illness spreadable by saliva.

Yes, it must to some extent. So refrain before donating for enough time for it to be fully excreted.

Sharing is only relevant concerning infection, which is a different question altogether.

No.  The THC in your blood stream would be so dilute after infusion into a recipient that it would have no effect.  This is one of the reasons that smoking pot is not the basis for an exclusion from donating blood.

Just avoid smoking for 1-2 days before you donate. THC stays in the body for months in fat tissue but blood THC levels will be negligible after about 24 hrs.
