  1. NO!  But tens of billions less without this accoursed

    working Mans' government!

  2. No, they'd just waste it on something else.  You'll never pay less tax until just before an election, when the government of the time try to buy votes.

  3. Nope, without the government we would?  But I can afford 66p a year for our Queen!

  4. No.Politicians cost a lot, more than your royals do!Look what George W. Bush has done to the US! We are going through very difficult economic times, because of this president and his cohorts.

  5. No - the MPs would find another way to tax us

  6. No we wouldnt see any of the money saved, the government would just fritter it away on less worthy mortals.

  7. Only a little - unlike Gordon Brown's 'blank cheque' to support the US empire's criminal activities in Iraq and Afghanistan - or the absurd replacement for Trident - or the billions paid to private sector firms for carrying out public work that could be done more economically in-house.

I think I would rather do without these, and watch the silly games in funny outfits in central London - though I have to admit I like the lovely horses better than the unlovely royals!

  8. 4p less

  9. No, because the Queen, and the Prince of Wales pay taxes -- voluntarily ! -- at a fairly high rate. They are also two of the biggest land owners in the UK . Prince Charles is also Duke of Cornwall, and I believe the Queen controls the Dukedom of Lancaster. These are essentially corporations that have tremendous influence in the economy and life in general. It is simply that most people do not pay attention to the information available on these topics. In addition, the whole "Royal" thing produces even more income as a draw for tourism! Get rid of them, and your taxes go UP!

  10. A non-executive president, something lke the Irish model, would be perfect for Britain. It means we can retain cabinet government and parliament, the president would be much cheaper than a monarchy. More importantly, every one of us could feasibly become president. I can never be king. A common woman can't be queen (unless she marries a king)

How can this be so in 21st century Britain, that the only qualification to be head of state of the greatest nation on earth is accident of birth.

Without votes, they are about as legitimate as Robert Mugabe.

  11. No. Taxes go into a general bucket. More money would go to buying fighting aircraft or nuclear weapons, that's all.

  12. It would work out at about 63 pence a year less per person. But I agree the money could and should be better spent!

  13. a little less. Less than a pound each person. we need the royal family, keeps us different and individual. also it brings in tourists.

  14. of course we would
