  1. probably not--the car should be equpped with a lockout. if not then the tranny would probably be toast and the engine would stall

  2. Depends how you drove the car, you would either slow down and put alot of strain on the clutch or yes you would probably do the engine some serious damage if you took your foot straight off the clutch. However, pretty much all modern cars will not allow you to engage reverse while moving forwards. Its quite annoying somethimes. In my mums 11 year old rover 200 even if you are only moving forwards very slightly and try and put it in reverse the gears will just grind and it will not go into reverse (with the clutch fully depressed to the floor) and no its not a dodgy clutch, its a safety feature.

  3. on the ofchance it would o in reverse, not your engine would blow but your gearbox  would be well n truly kapput!!!!!!!!

  4. No. The gearbox would.

  5. Nothing would happen, You cant put manuals into reverse when they're moving forward on both manuals and automatics....Mythbusters answer everything!

  6. it wont go in reverse but if you daft enough to wonder try doing 40 mph and turn the engine off but dont press the clutch then turn the ignition on after a few seconds see what happens ... if your wondering again the exhaust will explode and you will wake everyone in timbucktwo up

  7. They tried this on 'Mythbusters', and it didn't all go so badly.

  8. Yes

  9. Normally, this attempt knocks the tranny into neutral and kills the engine.  This is a failsafe device to keep twits from damaging their car.

  10. If,you could get it into reverse at 40mph, It would probably be a toss up between clutch or gearbox destruction. Manual transmission I assume.

    Good luck.

  11. it would not go into reverse unless you locked the drive wheels  gearbox would dissintergrate

  12. Your ar$e would be where your head should be.
