this is a serious question. My cousin thinks that this would be a good idea for a hot dog place in san francisco. I think that it is a terrible idea and that nobody, g*y or otherwise, would eat there. Who is right?

  1. It would fit in perfectly and be completely embraced in the Castro neighborhood. SF city would absolutely not forbid a name like this, especially in the openly g*y Castro, I;ve seen worse. Their cliches run deep in that district. Would people eat there? In the Castro they would, not sure about other neighborhoods. Whether or not it's a good idea, well that's a whole other issue. In either case, I actually laughed out loud, so you got me there!

  2. I think it's very funny! A few friends of mine would go JUST because of the name! It definitely belongs in the Castro. I see nothing wrong with it, if you don't have a sense of humor, you're just boring. :)

  3. I think it's a terrible idea and the city would probably not allow it.  Most cities regulate shop names for profanity/offensive language, and I'm pretty sure that would fall under that category.

  4. i like it

  5. There was a pretty good fast food place called "hot n hunky" near the Castro and they called all their hot dogs "weiners."

  6. most gayborhoods don't mind this sort of thing; i have a suspicion that the people who think its terrible are evangelists or something.

there is a g*y bar in philadelphia that is called "Woody's" and the g*y men all love it because of that

san francisco is not the place where that sort of thing would be looked down upon...

ever been to the pride parade?

  7. If you could open a place like that, it would be San Fran. If the hot dogs are good, I'm sure people will go. Honestly, I'm a straight guy, but if the hot dogs werre good, and at a good price, I would go to a place called "Hot Dongs"

  8. no they will be called hot ***** not hot dongs

  9. I am not trying to be funny...but there is a Tex-Mex place called The Pink Taco....it is huge and has made millions. I think it started in Vegas.

I think as long as you have great food...the name shouldnt matter.

Another one is The Strip Club in San Diego...that is a steakhouse.

**But Dong on the other hand...now thats kind of funny!!!

  10. You're right. It's a terrible idea. I advise your cousin not to name the hot dog shop 'Hot Dongs.' I believe many would find the name to be disgusting; therefore, the shop wouldn't last long.

  11. Sure, why not? As long as the Dongs are Hot and delicious, it'll attract a fair share of straight ppl too. There's already Hot 'n Hunky in the Castro -- why not Hot Dongs right next door?

I was thinking about opening a place specializing in tropical cuisines and calling it The Banana Hammock.

  12. I don't know if it's a good idea or not but I just spit coffee on my computer screen from laughing so hard...

  13. I think it's awesome!  And I would go just because of the name.  Very catchy and unforgettable!

  14. quite distasteful.

One thing to remember- the g*y community (for the most part) has exquisite taste.

This is insulting, vulgar and just barbarian.

I hope your cousin isn't looking for a career in marketing! He'd starve.............
