  1. I think so, Jimmy Young reminds me of a heavyweight version of Joe Calzaghe.  Young's speed and movement gave more talented boxers loads of trouble, but Jimmy's biggest flaw was he didn't punch with power or authority.  I actually watched the Ali/Young fight when it happened, and though Young beat Ali.

Odds are good Young would have beat Weaver as well.

  2. In my opinion Jimy Young would have been too clever for Weaver at his very best.  I believe would have outboxed Hercules the majority of the fight and win by unanimous decision.

  3. Young could box Weaver from pillar to post but he could never seriously hurt him.   Young is a bit overrated because he made an unmotivated, untrained Ali look bad.

After Frazier 3, Ali was NOT NEAR the same fighter he once was and should have hung them up after his that fight.  Young, like everyone else who faced Ali,  Trained hard and came in at his best.

Young would score early and cruise to an easy decision.  In a 15 round fight he could get caught late and get KO'd in 13

  4. I agree with Blog- Young actually beat Ali by a fairly wide margin. He is the fastest heavyweight in history, but zero power. Losing The bad decision to Ali cause him to lapse into cocaine addiction. Young beats Weaver unless Weaver catches him with that awesome left hook.
