Would the oil produced by off-shore drilling be sold exclusively to the USA?

Oil companies, like the majority of big business, are profit driven. The worldwide usage of oil is increasing. If off-shore drilling is permitted, what is the guarantee that it's output won't be sold to the highest bidder?

  1. Of course companies have a profit motivation as it's the only way to pay employees and give shareholders a dividend return.   We've had offshore drilling for decades - the Gulf of Mexico and Santa Barbara are two places which, immediately, come to mind.

The U.S.A. hasn't the potential at any time in the near furure, if ever, to be self-sufficient in meeting demands for domestic requirements and, based upon this, there is no possibility of the country becoming a member of O.P.E.C. - we are a consumer-nation not an exporter.   The second thing is that the government owns the mineral rights to our oil fields - oil companies lease the land.  There is an .H.R. 'somewhere' re the building of an oil refinery in Mississippi but I'm not up-to-date on this info' - believe it's anticipated to be able to meet 4 to 5% of, daily, domestic needs.

  2. Unfortunately, it will probably be sold to the highest bidder!

I think this whole "oil thing" is fabricated.  I'm old enough that I remember the "energy crisis" back in the 70's. About the time we all bought tiny cars and started burning wood for heat, the "crisis" just went away.

h**l!  I'm still driving the tiny clown car and burning wood!  If more folks did that, this whole "oil thing" would just go away!

    It is a ruse!
