My friend brought it up awhile ago, and she asked me if it was a double negative. Is it?

  1. no. a double-negative would be "you don't want to not do that"

it would be the same thing to say "you want to do that"

  2. No.  A double negative is when 2 negatives are modifying the same word or phrase. That is not the case here.  This the just 2 negatives in the same sentence.  Actually, in a way, it is 2 sentences.  This is how that could be written:

Don't let anyone tell you "You are not strong enough."
