  1. Perhaps it would have taken longer to get recognised, but if it was presented as a proper scientific theory then it would definitely have been taken seriously, especially when they realised that he knew what he was on about.

  2.   Relativity is a viable theory, but it also has it's flaws.

If Umbungo was the initiator of relativity more people would challenge some of it's aspects.

People don't like to disagree with Einstien or Hawking for fear of looking dumb

But they have both postulated some bonehead theories and they just may stay for a while.

  3. Considering that Special Relativity was put forward by an unknown patent clerk, I see no reason why not.

  4. if it were written as clearly as Poincare and Einstein wrote it, and if it included tests of the theory which then verified the theory, yes, it would have been

  5. Pose this question in "sociology" section to get more interesting answers. This question is irrelevant in this section.

  6. Einstein just happened to be a patent clerk at the time, he had to earn a living, but he was know in the scientific community. If the theory had been developed by anyone else with the proper credentials it would have been examined.

  7. If Mr U.U Smith provided the necessary proofs of course it would. You ever looked at any of Einsteins work?I like maths but his work as well as that of Mach,Minkowski,Lorentz and many others is mind boggling.

  8. Plainly, Mr Mr Umbongo Umbongo Smith has a respectable Anglo Saxon surname even if his parents lacked creativity when considering his middle name. However, the quality of a scientific theory speaks for itself and the name of the originator should not prejudice the readers willingness to accept radical and improved theoretical ideas! As I recall, Albert Einstein had to leave n**i Germany because of racial tensions, which later led to the Holocaust. As they say, 'what's in a name?'.

  9. If its the Mr Umbungo Umbungo Smith I'm thinking about then no, it would not have been taken seriously for virtue of the fact that he is a reknown mentalist. However if I have confused this Mr Umbungo Umbungo Smith with another, more intelligent Mr Umbungo Umbungo Smith then I apologise.

  10. errr...no lol =]
