The car was totalled and I may not be able to drive for a month or more. I won't replace the car until I can drive.

  2. Your question is not real clear.  But.  If your car was totalled. and you are still paying insurance on it than you will be wasting you money all together.  I would drop the coverage completely once they pay on the coverage claim.

If a car is totalled than It is NOT legal to drive on the streets. and if you do. you will have another problem all together.

Drop the insurance then go back once you have a new car.

  3. I really don't understand. If the car is totaled and can not be and will not be driven then how much is it insured for? I guess the only good thing about keeping insurance on a car of no value would be the continuous coverage you would have. You may be able to call your insurance company and explain your exact situation to see what is best for you. I really think you need the advice of a licensed agent in this situation.

  4. You can drop both comprehensive & collision if there's no vehicle to insure.  Depending on how long you've been with your insurance company, if you cancel the entire policy you lose your longevity....this sometimes means some good discounts.
