Question:

Would there be enough interest for me to open a snooker hall in the Marbella, Puerto Banus areas?

I am a 26 yr old ex professional snooker player and I am coming to live near Puerto Banus in October. I would like to open a snooker hall with around 8 snooker tables and 6 pool tables but I am concerned that as there are no snooker leagues in Spain I would be dependent on English and other foreign residents, would there be enough interest in the local area?

I have found three companies that sell snooker and pool tables in Malaga but does anybody know if any of these companies sell secondhand? I have telephoned these companies but with my limited Spanish I could get no joy!

The companies are:

Esclusivas De Billar 914 773 845

Pool Espana 925 79 50 08

Billares Sam 952 33 33 00

I was thinking of bringing tables out with me but the cost is very high!

Any information would be very much appreciated,

plus a good drink from me when I arrive over there!!

Kind Regards

Luke

  1. Don't you think you should hit the streets of Puerto and ask? I think you'll have more joy in Marbella, Puerto is an up-market area. There aren't any cheapo hotels around there, property is expensive for Costa del Sol and rental properties are filled for thousands. Any lower end tourists pass through in the evenings to gawp at the boats and eat. I can't imagine you'd have much consistency in custom. Marbella would be great because you'll capture kids, teens & families looking for respite from the summer sun or winter rain during the day and boys night out types in the evenings.

  2. Lucky you!!!  I would love to go to Puerto Banus, all that celeb spotting.  Plus, I love to play pool on a night out.

I live in Bournemouth, UK and all the pubs with pool tables are gradually being changed into posh bars, bleughhh.

Its only a short trip from Marbella to Puerto Banus if you want to attract the guys down from Marbella.

If you want to go upmarket all the celebs have games rooms with snooker/pool tables havent they??? or have I been watching too much "Cribs"

  3. You would make it off tourist if you want the locals better get a couple of Billiard tables also I wouldnt jump in head first But I would test the water for a few months better to add than take away

  4. it will be a gamble but lifes a gamble i like a game snooker on holiday could work good luck

  5. i know they had a couple of snooker halls in barcelona when i lived there done quite well with the expats as very few bars have pool or snooker tables.. i,ll have a chat with a friend whos fluent in spanish and get him to speak about buying second hand tables for you

  6. you can open one anywhere if you have the balls
