  1. we have cruised twice during the first week of January (and will again this year).  The ship did not feel crowded and there was not a lot of children on board (except ours)

  2. Holiday sailings are the most expensive -- especially the cruises between Christmas and New Years.  Prices are lower in January because people are "recovering" from the holidays and aren't really that tired of the cold weather.

Prices increase in February and March because people want to find warmth and get away from the cold.

There will still be a good number of people cruising in January, but not as many as in February and March.

  3. The reason for the price drop is that late December cruises are during Christmas or New Years, which are very popular.  Early January would not be as popular.

  4. it is not so much as a price drop but rather that the cruise lines have fare increases on holiday sailings. so anything after the holidays will seem cheaper.
