Question:

Would there be peace if Arabs and Jews had the same ethics and morals?

The problem is that I don't see my ethics and morals becoming like those of the Arabs, especially given the fact that I am in Israel which is the Jewish state--why should the Jews take on a foreign ethic--one which is not theirs but is better suited to Saudi Arabia.

  1. I suppose it depends what set of ethics were imposed on both groups.

If they both suddenly decided it was important for humans to be nice to each other, to be nonviolent, and to share land equitably, there would be peace.  If they both decided that it was important to conquer the land your religion said belonged to you and never compromise, there would never be peace.

I think this is one reason the U.S. has the naive notion of imposing democracy on Arab countries and one reason many of us thought the Palestinians would make peace long ago.  Some think sharing democratic values will make countries get along, and I used to regularly read that Palestinians, especially their leaders, were so much more Western-educated and Westernized in general than the Arabs of other nations that they would make peace and set up a liberal democracy.  It hasn't worked out that way, though.

  2. Yes there would be peace if it were so.

  3. I would not like to see the Jewish people start to kill indiscriminately, rape small female children on a daily basis, and other acts that the Koran pushes.

at the moment the Arabs do not want peace(they enjoy the killing to much)

  4. If Arabs had Israeli ethics, yes, there would be peace.  There is not consistent peace among Arab countries though.

As they say in Hamas, "We love death more than the Israelis love life."  This is not an ethic that will ever lead to peace, even with other Muslims.

Now of course there are a lot of Arabs that do value life above death.  But, it seems, not as many of them as I would like.

  5. the Muslim and Jewish faiths(by biblical law) are not that different. They both teach love and peace. The problem is that all of the Middle East has been fighting for thousands of years and thats all some know. There are differences but the fanatical parts of both religions, as well as almost all other religions, only believe what years have taught them, and the others are nut jobs. War is a part of their society. Until they can get past that it will never be peaceful.

So that you know what the word ethic means as I am sure you don't

    Pronunciation:

        \ˈe-thik\

    Function:

        noun

    Etymology:

Middle English ethik, from Middle French ethique, from Latin ethice, from Greek ēthikē, from ēthikos

    Date:

        14th century

1plural but sing or plural in constr : the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation2 a: a set of moral principles : a theory or system of moral values <the present-day materialistic ethic> <an old-fashioned work ethic> —often used in plural but singular or plural in construction <an elaborate ethics><Christian ethics> bplural but sing or plural in constr : the principles of conduct governing an individual or a group <professional ethics> c: a guiding philosophy d: a consciousness of moral importance <forge a conservation ethic>3plural : a set of moral issues or aspects (as rightness) <debated the ethics of human cloning>

They are different in many ways and are so similar in many more. Your belief is that yours is better and alot of people would agree with you, but the truth is that the people like you on both sides of the issue are so blinded by anger and hatred that you look at the few and judge the many.

For so many years the majority of the world hated the Jewish people. n**i Germany was not the only country that persecuted the Jews(they went the furthest though). And it was there not having knowledge and judging your people for the crucifixion of the Christ, Jesus. They judged a whole race for the things a few did.

It is people like you that have caused the senseless bloodshed to go on for thousands of years, and its people like you who will keep it going for thousands more. Look past the faith and look at the individuals who have died for nothing on both sides. Only with accepting that all people are not bad can you as a people will grow. Keep this up and the blood will flow more.

  6. ......no, because there is no guarrantee that ethics and morals of people can make a harmonious life.......Peace of the nations can be experience if both agreed to respect each others religion, culture, traditions, etc.....

  7. It is nice to be nice for a change. This does not change the fact  that Israeli ethics are weired. Looks like some defect with genes

  8. i think that u r messed out

the main problem between Arabs and Israel is because they invaded an Arabic land which is Palestine so in the first place if they did not invade it there would be no problems at all

  9. I want to say it depends on which ethics and morals there were.

I want to say that as it is Arabs don't all share ethics, nor do Jews.

I want to say peace is more complicated than that.

    But the fact is simple:

Both Israel and Hamas kill civillians.

Sparing civillians is the single most important ethic for peace.

    So your answer is no.

  10. Hi lemon_lorrain,

If more Arabs were more flexible, they would have had a much easier life and could have adapted well in Israel.  As Jewish people, we can adapt to just about any culture and country because Jewish people have been kicked around a lot throughout the ages.  Put Jewish people in any country and they will make the best of it - something Arabs need to learn from us.

As far as morals and ethics, Jewish people respect them both in any country in which they live.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Miche ; })
