I have a 10 gallon aquarium with 3 mollies. There is salt in it (the non-iodized Morton salt) two tablespoons. Will 2 kissing gouramis and a cory be okay in the tank?

  1. No. Cory cats do not do well with salt. Why are you using table salt????!! You need to use Aquarium salt or you will kill ALL of your fish.Your gouramis can tolerate a moderate amount of salt but, it does irritate them. Please read the directions of use on the box to ensure the health of your fish.

  2. No.. Kissing Gourami grow WAY to big for a 10gal tank. (8-10" +)

Cory catfish do not like salt, and do better in a group. A single cory is likely to be very shy and sulk a lot.

Better to get some other livebearers that stay small and dont mind the salt. A couple of platies maybe?

  3. monitor them fo an hour then see if they do anything that how you know

  4. sure

  5. just that theyre not used to being cannibals or something

  6. They might be okay together, idk, but not in that sized tank!  Those gouramis need tanks of 105 gallons or more!  Check out this link!

Also, you should not use table salt for your fish! Get some aquarium salt at the pet store.  In addition, cories are schooling fish so you can not have just one.  You should have 3 or more.  Preferably 6 or more! ;)

  7. Marni is right!!! =]
