  1. the course is closed during only available dates , augusta was going to let the atlanta games allow golf to return as a demo sport in the 94 olympics . if it was a event that could tie into augusta with the changes and restrictions lessing . they possibly could accept 2 tournaments a year . but the effort to hold one tournament does take a lot of time , and does cause major grounds damage , would the members be able to take on another tournament is doubtful . the greenstaff would go beserk . thanks

  2. I think it could happen, the speed of the greens and specially distance are all manageable variables, and Augusta is not knows for it's rough, the fairways are narrow mostly because of trees and pine straw. If the members play on these greens, I see no reason why LPGA golfers can't handle them.

So I don't think that the course setup is an issue, and I think the old-heads that run the place will subside. Already the club is more progressive under the new chairman Billy Payne.

The bigger issue is the logistics, having two tournaments in one year specially when the course is usually closed for the summer would be difficult. Unless the second tournament was held in late summer, and they opened the course for it.

I agree with rox, it WILL happen.

  3. I don't necessarily subscribe to the notion that it will never happen.

As a matter of fact, I think it will one day.

  4. No...tradition.  It would probably be too long and difficult for females.  Winning score in the 80's and painful to watch.  If you ever see Augusta you know the greens are undulating pool table hard.  It is long....Narrow.

  5. Depends, maybe if we elect a female president, then Augusta will change it's views on female members.  However, the LPGA players usually cant play the Men's major courses because the rough is too thick, and the course is too long.
