Would thicker cables matter for a headphone jack?

i have a lcd tv and it has no audio outs but has a headphone jack currently i have a simple y cable running 2 my stereo from my tv but the sound is crappy it works but i was wondering if i were to buy some ticker cables would that make a difference at all or would i just be wasting my money

  1. The quality of the cable does have some influence on the quality of audio output of the signal that it is carrying. Since the audio signal is an analog signal, "better" cables can get you better sound. "Thicker" isn't necessarily better, though.

    However, if you are using the headphone out jack from your TV - chances are that if you feed it to your speakers directly, you will get pretty bad-sounding audio. To get good sound output, you need to use a "speaker out" jack (not a headphone jack). If your TV doesn't havea speaker out jack, then I doubt that a better cable will significantly improve the audio quality.
