I've been on Cerazette for almost 2 weeks and threw them away last night because I hated what they were doing to me.

What I was considering doing was only taking them the week before and during my period (I know they helped during it), each month.

  1. Only taking them one or two weeks a month won't help. You need the whole set of pills to have the proper amount of hormones in your system. If you don't, they won't have the same affect and may actually s***w up your period more. Plus, if you are taking them the week before and week of your period... you might as well go ahead and take the rest (since there is only 3 weeks of active pills).

Go back to the doctor that prescribed them. Tell them what problems you are having. They can give you a different prescription so you don't have as many problems.

EDIT: If you are concerned about having too many hormones in your system, switch to a low-dose pill. Just like any prescription, you need to take the entire amount for it to work properly.

  2. NO! Bad idea! That will not accomplish what you want. It will mess up your hormone cycle and then you'll be back to the original problem. You should go to your doctor and fine out why you have such problems during your period. Or you could try a different birth control pill.
