Would this be a good cage for 2 rats?

I already have this cage because i had it for my gerbils, but would it be big enough for 2 rats?

Measurements:

Length- 16"

Width- 12"

Height- 24"

It's a wire cage with 1/2" spacing so i don't think they could get out, because my gerbils never even tried too.

It has 4 levels and 2 doors on the front of it.

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  2. http://www.rattycorner.com/odds/calc.sht...

Type the measurments in at this site and it will tell you.

    Hope I helped!

  3. Definitely too small :\ rats need big cages. 2-2.5 cubic feet of cage space per rat is ideal for the absolute minimum.

  4. Yeah, that should be big enough. It sounds like the cage i have, actually.

Oh- if the ramps and floors are wire make sure to cover them up with a type of cloth ,like fleece. The rats can get a disease from constantly stepping on wire.

    Good luck with them!

  5. it seams a little small for rats. I have a 24" Lenght x 13" width by 13" height for only one Syrian hamster. Rats need a bigger cage

  6. Thats a great cage for rats, I have 1 and my cage is roughly the same size........how many do u plan on putting inside?

  7. No, that cage isn't even big enough for ONE rat.

Rats should have about 2 cubic feet of space, each. That cage only has enough space for one.

Plug the dimensions into this site to find out for yourself:

  8. FORMULA (in inches)

Multiply the cage dimensions (length by width by height) to get the volume of the cage in cubic inches.

    Divide the result by 3456.

The result of that is the number of rats your cage can comfortably hold.

    EXAMPLE Martin's R-695

    30" x 18" x 36" =19,440

    Divide by 3456

    19,440/3456=5.625 rats

  9. To little, a foot by basically a foot.

Have you seen a  full grown rat? There poot tails would be hanging out of this cage.

Rats are much larger then gerbils.

If in this cage the poor things may start fighting for space and you don't want that.

  10. YEA THEY'LL HAVE ALOT OF FUN IN THAT I HAVE THE SAME AND THEY ARE ALWAYS BOUNCING FROM TOP TO BOTTOM AND VICE VERSA...

  11. I had one rat and i had it in a big glass tank it seemed to like it a lot you want something plenty big though so they have plenty of spack get some those  hamster wheels and a big wooden log the ones that stick up horizontally so that they also have stuff to keep them occupied so that they don't end up always fighting each other

  12. No, it can house only one rat. The levels must be spaced so that your rat could stand on it's hind legs -  so about 30 cm above the other level.

  13. Thats perfect for your rats cause I have a friend who had a smaller cage and she had 4 rats
