I'm looking at a 2002 Olds Aurora - havent test drove it yet, but researched it and looked at pics and it seems like a very decent car. It's got 88k and looks to be in excellent shape - the asking price is $6900. Does anyone have an Aurora around that year and could give me some advice? It has the V6 engine. I really want something that will last me atleast for a few years without major problems, but please dont suggest I buy a Honda or something - I want an American vehicle, preferrably a luxury-type sedan, but affordable if possible. Can anyone who has an Aurora or something similiar give me some info or advice? Thanks...

  1. these are very nice cars i was about to buy one. very comfortable and sleek body lines. i also heard that these cars are a little rare. mileage is pretty good. i would try to beat the price down a little. but overall good car. i would definately reccomend this car to you. by the way it has a good strong engine.

  2. GM v6 engines are decent. My V6 3800 I can get almost 32 mpg on the highway unless I go above 70. For comparison sake, Suzuki and Ford V-4's I drive every now and than and I don't get that high with either.

I was thinking in the 5k price range, that being said, in South Fla now at auction we are paying 6-7000 for vehicles we used to pay 4-5000 for. There are no "used" car factories as you know. Prices on nice used cars are strating to inch up. I would try to get something knocked off, but longer you wait, chances are someone else will grab.

    Good Luck!

  3. Kelly Blue Book has that at $7600 from a dealer or $5800 from a private party if it's in excellent condition with those miles.

  4. that seems a bit pricey for that car - and consider a 6 cyl. will get worse gas mileage than a 4 cyl.

  5. yes

  6. I'm not a Oldsmobile owner, but I took a look at that offering price. $6,900 is waaay overpriced.

Here's the wholesale prices of that car.

Prices range from $5,300 (being in above average condition) to $4,500 (being in average condition) and $3,700 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices.

A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $4,500 to $6,300.

Did you find this car from a dealer or a priv. party? You have plenty of room to bargain down. I wouldn't pay over $5k for it.

  7. Thats a pretty decent car for what your looking for, as for amercian cars it has pretty good realibility. I do think the price is a little high, I wouldnt pay more than $6,000 for it and $5,300 would seem like a VERY good deal if its in good shape

  8. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://autoinsurance.noneto.com

As I rememer Oldsmobile is expensive to insure.
