Question:

Would this be a good class to take?

I'm going off to college as a freshman and majoring in Biology. So far, I'm enrolled in a Bio class, Chem class, Chem Lab, Bio Lab, and History (required). That is 12 credit hours, and I have a variety to choose from for the General Ed requirement.

For that requirement, I'm thinking of an art class (Ceramics I), but it has nothing to do with my major. I just enjoy it and thinking it will help for stress. Is that okay that it has nothing to do with my major?

  1. I do ceramics and it is great for stress, however i am a little surprised that you don't have a math class.

  2. you will love it!

  3. I guess you could use it as an elective. Even if you have financial aid it shouldn't effect it.

  4. do what ever you want but sometimes colleges have requirements of the electives like an english class, a humanities class, a language, a math class...check your requirements and get those out of the way first plus art/ fun classes usually get taken first by upperclassman who have registered last spring.

  5. Absolutely it's ok.  As long as it fulfills your a requirement it won't hurt you, and if it's a subject you like why not take it?

I'm a criminal justice major, but I fulfilled my university's Diversity requirement by taking Japanese even though it has nothing to do with my major.  I also took weight lifting to fulfill a elective requirement.

  6. Every college requires some kind of art, so if you want to take cermnics go ahead.  a lot of the general education requirements has nothing to do with a lot of majors, so you might as well take a class you can enjoy.  I took Theater for my art requirement, and it has nothing to with social work, but its something i enjoy.
