Hi i was wondering if this would be a good idea for a career as a pilot

I first attend my community college and take my basic classes

I then go to southern illinois in carbondale to get my

bachelors degree in Aviation/Airway Management and Operations

bachelors degree in Avionics Maintenance Technology/Technician

and associates in Airline/Commercial/Profes... Pilot and Flight Crew

I would then go to embry riddle in daytona beach and get my

graduates in Aviation/Airway Management and Operations

bachelors inAirline/Commercial/Prof... Pilot and Flight Crew

bachelors in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aero... Science and Technology, General

bachelors in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology, General

and more

would this be a good idea for college. The main reason i want to do it is it will save me tons. According to this website the tuition for each school is

community college- $2700

Southern illinois- $16465

Embry- 36646 for undergrad

18600 for grad

  1. If you get all those, it sounds like you'll be too old to work by the time you graduate.

To get started, all you need is a commercial multi-engine instrument. To work for a major airline (not own it), they prefer a four year degree and it can be in almost anything.

  2. if you want to be a pilot, dont forget about the extra 50,000 its gonna cost to get your certificates and ratings necessary to fly commercially..

Im not sure what your goal is.. Do you wanna fly or do you wanna be the head of the entire FAA.. i mean, d**n, you've got a ton of food on your plate.. Plus your putting all your eggs in one basket.. and consider this, starting out, you're probably not gonna make much more than 25k/year..

i think you should tone it down a little bit and do some more research.. 4 bachelors and 1 graduate degree is overkill

  3. Choose jst Embry Riddle andconsider the price for gettind hours

  4. If you can figure out a way to get an associate degree, 5 bachelors degrees, and a graduate degree, and somehow find a way for that to SAVE money, you should be the CEO for a Fortune 50 company, not a pilot!  And by my rough estimation, that's about 25 years and a half million dollars of school!  Sounds like you could be a pilot, mechanic, FAA contractor, FAA inspector, meteorologist, airport manager, and professor all at the same time by the time you finish all of that!

Community college: good idea.  SIU, very good idea if you live in Illinois and can get in state tuition.  A graduate degree?  Unnecessary if you don't want to do anything with your career beyond being a pilot.  If you want to get into airline management or something like that, an MBA would be a good idea, but worry about that somewhere down the road.

I do have to say, though - if you think pilots are really THAT smart, I'm flattered!

  5. it is if you want to be about 50 by then.then i recommend it to you.

all the best by the way.

  6. Right.  If you want to be a manager or a consultant, all those degrees will stand you in good stead.  If you want to be a pilot, you need to get out there and FLY!

For a professional piloting career, you need a bachelor's degree.  Just that, and it can be in any field you want, though science or engineering are strong choices.  But so are management and accounting, especially if you think you might eventually want to transfer to the upstairs office.

But just get your Bachelor's degree, and also fly.  As much as you can.  If you are not sure about the actual flying part, what you need to do is get out there and find out what it's like, and make sure it's for you.

Find the nearest flight school, and go talk to the instructors.  Sign up for an introductory flight.  It will cost you $50 to $100, and you must be 16.

    Good luck!

  7. You dont need 5 different bachelors degree, you just need 1 and your hours for the airlines.
