  1. it cant be called a waterspout unless it's fully over water but all waterspouts are still called tornados so you could really only call it a tornado

  2. It depends where the storm forms. If it forms over water it's a waterspout if it forms over land it's a tornado.

  3. I think the place of origin is important. If it forms over the sea and is moving towards the land,it will continue to be called waterspout till it leaves the water surface(100 percent) completley.Once it enters the land and occupies it completely(100 %),then only it can be called as tornado.

Moreover, when the waterspout is 50 percent over the water and remaining 50 percent over the land, there is always a possibility that it will be pushed back to the sea due to the frictional forces over land. There are many occasions when Cyclones(tropical revolving storms) which formed over the sea and moved towards the land, were deflected near the  shore and moved skirting(moving along the shore) the shore for many miles before they finally entered the shore through the delta area of a river where the frictional forces of land are less. This has happened many times in the Indian coast.

  4. Geez that's a good one! I have never heard of a tornado that half of it is on land and the other half is on the water. A tornado and a watersprout is the same thing, but a tornado is a cyclone on land and a watersprout is on the water. There have been cases where a tornado is on land and it goes over water and back to land. But, if you saw  a tornado that half of it is on water and half of it is on land, pick either term or call it a tornasprout.

  5. Waterspout for sure.

  6. A waterspout

as soon as the twister hits water it is called a waterspout because it starts picking up water

  7. it depends on were it goes. if the funnel goes to water its gonna be a waterspout if it moves to land is gonna be a tornado

  8. That my friend, would be a h**l of a thing to see! though..I think it would be considered a waterspout becase if its spirling then, chances are its going to suck in water becoming....you guessed it, a waterspout.

  9. A waterspout IS a tornado. Take your pick.

  10. Waterspout since its next to the water.

Dont think there a name for it..
