Question:

Would this be alright to eat right before I go to bed?

I'm trying to loose weight, but my stomach is growling. I don't want to eat too much right before I go to sleep, but I don't want my body to go into starvation mode either.

Would it be okay to eat some steamed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, etc) seasoned with either salt and pepper or "Season All" along with a tall glass or two of water? If so, what size portion of veggies can I eat?

Thank you for the help.

  1. Wow, that's weird, the last thing I ate today was broccoli, carrots, and a bottle of water, along with a banana...hmm. Just thought I'd tell you.

  2. 1 cup maybe.

  3. don't consume carbs before bed.  You want protein.  It will digest more slowly, keeping your body out of a catabolic state during sleep.  This is important because catabolism will cause your body to release cortisol and burn muscle mass instead of fat for energy.  Also, protein contains just as many calories per gram as carbs.  Try cottage cheese, it contains very little fat.  Perhaps a protein supp would be wise.  If so, get casein or soy protein, it is slower digesting

  4. eat about 1 cup of steamed vegetables. but what would be better, is to just drink water before bed but oly a half a glass so you dont have to go to the bathroom.
