Would this be considered a sport?

I like to body surf but is it a real sport? My mom says i need to be involved in an extra curricular sport but i am not sure if body surfing is a sport. someone help me?

Typically if there are organised teams or a governing body that set rules or guidelines...its a sport. If not, its just fun and exercise.

In my mind, if you sweat, then it is a sport

i dont think you can call it a sport, it's kinda like calling nascar a sport
