If you possess self-control AND sanity this would be fine for a first bike.  It'll have some real juice so respect it's power.  You might not outgrow this for several years. Just don't go and make yourself a statistic.

Only time i ever rode sport bikes I hated the way you have to sit on em and they feel like they are gonna run out from under you. My opinion. If youve never ridden before you dont need something thats gonna hit 145. The sport bikes felt pretty squirrelly to me at 70mph or so. Again my opinion.

yeah, but its way overpriced. you should be able to get that for $750

If you are a new rider, I wouldn't recommend a sport bike, unless it was 250cc.

I would say 650cc and less, bikes of cruiser style or the older classic street bike style.  The sport posture is uncomfortable, and is more suited to VERY fast short rides than to long trips, or even local commutes.
