Question:

Would this be legal?

So I found that you can take a plain t-shirt, bag, ect. and iron on a design. Well, I was wondering if it would be illegal to do that with a picture of a movie poster or something like that and sell it. Is it illegal to sell it if it just has a silly little design and not a movie poster or art work on it? I don't want to do anything illegal so I thought I should ask. Thank you for your time =)

  1. A move poster would be illegal and you could be sued for copyrights violation.  If it is your creation or design it is completely legal for you to sell it.  You just cannot sell someone else's design or artwork or photo.

  2. If you use a copyrighted image, such as a movie poster, that would be copyright infringement and there can be some hefty financial penalties for that.

What do you mean by "silly little design"?  If you find a design somewhere that you like, it may be protected by copyright, so you're not going to be able to reproduce that without permission either.

If you create your own unique designs, then you can do whatever you want with them.

  3. It would be illegal if its something from a movie or cartoon character because of copy rights. If it was your own design then it would be legal but I would copy write the design if I plan to sell things with my design on it because someone else would try to use it as their own design.
