I'm fourteen, in the ninth grade. Two years earlier, when I was twelve, I hated Battle of the Books, and told my mom I was going to quit. She made me stick with it because she said it would look good on college applications. I was twelve for crying out loud!
Also, years and years ago when I told her I thought I wanted to go to MIT, she said that she'd like it if I went to Temple, which is where she went, so there isn't much room for discussion.
So anyway, what I'm asking is, is it weird for a mother to talk to her child about college applications six years ahead of time? I mean, aren't mothers usually the ones that tell you that your childhood is the time in your life to have fun? College applications don't sound fun....
