Would this be weird and/or frightening for you?

I'm fourteen, in the ninth grade. Two years earlier, when I was twelve, I hated Battle of the Books, and told my mom I was going to quit. She made me stick with it because she said it would look good on college applications. I was twelve for crying out loud!

Also, years and years ago when I told her I thought I wanted to go to MIT, she said that she'd like it if I went to Temple, which is where she went, so there isn't much room for discussion.

So anyway, what I'm asking is, is it weird for a mother to talk to her child about college applications six years ahead of time? I mean, aren't mothers usually the ones that tell you that your childhood is the time in your life to have fun? College applications don't sound fun....

  1. DONT LET THEM PRESSURE YOU IN TO ANYTHING!

  2. Geez, I'm glad I grew up when I did. All we worried about was what time Batman (the TV show, not the crappy movies) came on.

    I pity you.
