Would this be weird (this is short)?

if i've never met a guy in person would it be weird to go out with him to a club for the very first meet? if not where else should we go?

It might be a little awkward, bring a friend and tell the guy to bring one of his friends. That might smooth things over. Plus if you don't like the guy, maybe you'll like his friend hahaha. If you don't like either of them, well at least you have your friend.

I wouldn't suggest a club. I suggest somewhere calm and nice. A nice dinner maybe? Heck even a walk at a park?
