Would this benefit me in getting accepted to the university I want to go to?

The university I'm interested in attending offers some summer programs and classes available to people who don't have to be students there. Since I'm interested in going to this university would it at all benefit me in the admissions process to take advantage of some of those summer programs before I apply? This school is very difficult to get accepted to so I want to do everything I can to give myself any benefits.

  1. yeah definitely these things will help u out in admission process because generally universities give preference to students who attend their

    program mes.

  2. Depends on the program.

If you receive college credit, go for it. That can never hurt. It might even be transferable to another school.

It could give you a leg up when it comes to admissions simply because you will have proven that you want to attend that school and that you are capable of handling their programs. Plus, universities tend to show great loyalty to students who have already done some of their programs (unless you just absolutely don't meet their requirements that is)

It really depends on the program though. If it is a non-matriculated program where you can take actual university classes without being a degree-seeking student, those are always good to get some extra credits in and stuff. If its just like "family art class" or "high school chemistry program" probably not too important and won't count for anything.

  3. Probably not. If you want to take classes for the summer, go for it, but don't do it for admissions reasons. Admissions offices supposedly look at the level of difficulty of your classes, as well as the grades you achieved in them. Your essays, hard classes, grades, activities, interview, and SATs will get you into college. Unless you plan on getting a stellar recommendation from a prof at the school you want to go to... it probably won't even give you a boost.
