My friend and I somehow got into an argument over whether or not simply twisting the head 'till it faces slightly beyond the shoulder (or past its normal limits) can cause a fatality. Will it cause death?

  1. Do you mean twisting around by yourself?  No, no way.

Neck twisted by someone else:  If your friend did it, you could get a sprain and a sore neck.  It takes *a lot* of strength and skill to break someone's neck, despite what one sees in the movies.  Very few people have that kind of strength - think a huge pro football player.  And if the person isn't taken by surprise, is struggling - so very difficult.

The human body is a lot tougher than people realize.

  2. maybe, or paralyzed like in war movies.  swivel an crack ...down and out.

dont try it at home kids..  :)

  3. I doubt it. Besides, I can twist my neck just beyond the shoulder, so I'm looking backwards :)

But I think you'd just get spinal cord damage, if anything. Not death. Or just snap a vertibrae or something.
