Would this coffee maker be OK to use?

My boyfriend recently gave me a coffee maker from our college days. This device has been in basement storage for about three years. It's dusty, but it doesn't smell like there's mold in it or anything. I do know that I should run vinegar through it, but will the vinegar kill off any mold that might be in the inner workings of the machine?

Please let me know if there's anything I should do besides the "vinegar treatment". Thank you!

i guess i'd take a gallon of water ... add one cap of bleach to it... shake it up...shake it up...run that thru once... then do the vinegar thing or just run water thru a couple times...till ya can't smell the bleach. that should get any unseen mold out. good luck!

If it was cleaned before being packed, use it, but if not, go buy another one and sell this one at your next yard sale!

Vinegar sounds good, but if you want other methods, I recommend hot water, and just to be safe...clean all portions of the open parts of the copy maker with soap and water, along with a dish towel.  If there are regions you can't quite reach, I don't imagine they should effect the taste of your coffee...but I wouldn't recommend taking the thing apart (never know if you can get it back together) unless certain parts CAN be removed so that it can be clean.

Vinegar might be your best choice for the "inner workings", maybe some sort of disinfectant...bacteria killer, you know the deal.  Hope this was helpful.
