  1. I am 5' 7". The horse you see in my Avatar stands 18.2 hands tall.

I really don't think there is a horse that is too tall for anybody. Mind you, I have to have steps to get on him, but I still don't think he is too tall. Good Luck to you.

  2. With horses the bigger the better

you don't want him to have any pressure.

  3. If you can get up there comfortably, then no horse is to tall. Good Luck!

  4. no horse is to tall ofr you :]

  5. ummm maybe a little i dont really know im 5'5 and we have a 16hh horse and hes fine for me

  6. Probably not. I am 5'8" and my horse is 17hh. I think we look pretty good together.

  7. You don't make clear if you're going to ride a 17hh or are buying a young horse that will grow up to 17hh.

That depends on the horse & on you. Are you comfortable riding a 17hh, do you feel safe? What is his breed & temperament? If he's well behaved & you're accustomed to riding horses, then it's probably fine. As with any horse, if he's highly strung & you haven't ridden much, then you need a horse that's easier to handle - find out what he's like and compare this realistically with your own abilities.

If he's young, are you experienced enough to cope when he gets his growth spurt?

Otherwise, height should be no boundary.

  8. It's not the height but how he handles on the ground and in saddle. You will have use a step to get on though but that's better for their backs if you mount that way. :)  If you are able to ride him now do a trial run on him to see how he feels.  If he is like still a baby then it will take some time to see how he is.

  9. look at all the tiny dressage ladies that ride 17hh warmbloods nothing makes me madder than people saying hes to big for her a 13hh pony is still alot heavier than any person, respect and trust is what its all about.

  10. its not how big they r that matters its whether or not you can controll him that matters

  11. Send a pic of this horse.  The truth is that the vast majority of people claiming to have such a horse do not have a horse that is even close to that height.  This is mainly because most people do not actually measure their horses.  They simply guess at the height.

PS.  If you could make it a picture with someone standing in it next to the horse.

  12. No I don't think so. I know of somebody that has a 17hh horse and is shorter than you. If the horse has a good personality and is everything that you want otherwise then being that tall should not be an issue.

  13. There's really no such thing as a horse too tall for someone.  Now, too short on the other hand...that's totally possible.
