Earth Words

You are my friend, my friend

I have watched you make your daily reach for sustenance

Sat near to you and heard you sigh with the weariness of a day

Sought you out to smooth the rough spots from my gritty smiles

I have walked beside you and watched the surface of a lake ripple

And merge our reflections as spirits come together after death

I have looked into your eyes

Witnessed secrets, truths and lies

Gazed upon your face, traced the lines life has left

I have seem myself embraced within your smile but

Never have I spoken to you, but in earth words

For spirits only talk to spirits

And spirits have no use for words. ! patsy mcAuley

  1. Would make some one a Happy day any day.

  2. use some friendship words

  3. This is a lovely tribute to a friendship that embraces all of life, from sighs to secrets.  The remarkable imagery in the second stanza speaks of a friendship that transcends even death.  This would be a beautiful birthday gift that will touch any heart.  I appreciate your sharing it.  Thank you.

  4. This is saying a lot, and saying it well.  Some meter issues, at least as I read, probably more for word placements.Try this variation: "sought you out to smooth the roughness from gritty smiles."

My compliments on message and with more editing it should really shine.
