Would this medication hurt me?

Is it oh k to take PROPLTHIOURACL, and TTC....any advice would help... cuz i take that to get my thyroid level back to normal and they have gottn back to normal...

  1. If your thyroid levels are now back to normal, it is possible that you can now discontinue them but only if your doctor tells you that its alright to do so.    


  2. Your thyroid function is so important that you must do exactly as your doctor tells you.

    Do not try altering or stopping a prescribed treatment without medical advice, even if you have to take treatment for the rest of your life

  3. PTU is frequently prescribed when your thyroid becomes overactive, most commonly from Grave's Disease.

    Once your levels have returned to normal you can stop the PTU.  You do need regular blood counts while on this treatment as there is a rare but serious complication of wiping out your bone marrow (occurs 1/300,000 people treated)

    Often, your thyroid may be UNDERactive after treatment, and you will then need to be on a thyroid supplement
