Would the reciever that comes with this system : http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Onkyo-HT-S5100-7-1-Channel-Home-Theater-with-iPod-Dock-HTS5100/sem/rpsm/oid/208494/catOid/-12954/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

be able to power these speakers: http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/rb-51.aspx ?

I think that that receiver can run those speakers because that Receiver says that it supports 130 watts per channel and those speakers say 75 watts RMS (200 watts peak).

  1. RMS means continuous...so you'll be alright.  Technically, a receiver with 10 watts per channel could power them.  But they wouldn't sound good.  The only time you ever have to worry about power is if your speakers begin popping and distorting...then they are getting overloaded.

You will LOVE those speakers.  Klipsch is incredible.  Good luck.

  2. That receiver will power the speakers just fine.  Onkyo's power ratings aren't over exaggerated like some Theater-in-a-box systems.  The only problem with that receiver is that for the price range it only passes HDMI through, it doesn't process it.
