It would certainly save a lot of money.But seriously crime will grow even faster during this credit crunch unless the government reverse imbalance between rich and poor.

to be housed in a cushier environment and given all their human rights,for taking away the same from their victims.

To reduce crime make the punishment fit the crime and take all the RIGHTS away from the criminal till he has served the full term of his sentence and not be allowed time off for 'good' behaviour

I'm sure it would reduce the crime rate, but would increase the violence against police as people would not want to go to jail.  Also, it would be unconstitutional.  Just think, you get arrested for littering just 3 days before the next scheduled gassing.  Oops, you're gone.

no because half the people in the prisons are there for the stupid drug laws they have in america. taking out the right to bear arms will reduce the crime rate shooting wise look at england. Also the economy is the reason for the high crime rates when people lose there house they go crazy i would to. perfect proof look at cleveland

no way, we should be more than happy to keep these poor misguided wretches in relative comfort, and be grateful that we have the chance to pay for their upkeep while they learn more sophisticated ways to rob, hurt and generally ripoff the very hand that feeds them.
