my front passenger seat speaker has something wrong wit it, i have to like bridge a ground (say for example a metal plate from the car) to a little bit befor the negative terminal that plugs into the speaker cuz if i dont it doesnt work. and then most of the times when i turn off the stereo neither of the fron speakers work and i have to unplug and then plug back the terminal of my passenger side speaker to make it work... what can i do?

how would i fix this short circuit thing? i just put in a new stereo... does that have anything to do with it? or should i follow the wire all the way to the speaker? or get a wire from the negative battery post to my speaker?

people keep on saying if i keep on doing this it will like mess up my radio is that true?

  1. Yes, you will ruin it. Take the time and 3 bucks to run new speaker wire. You have a short somewhere. And by all means....don't hook it up to the neg. battery post!

  2. i agree, i just fried my 140 dollar, 1 yr old pioneer stereo cause of speaker wire shorting like 2 weeks ago. rewired my whole car in less than an hour today, just buy speaker wire and bypass all factory speaker wiring, snip the ends of the factory speaker wiring at all ends and tuck away, solder and shrink wrap all connections behind the stereo. if you want to use wiring harnesses, like i did, this is what i did:

bought an extra wiring harness for my car, took the speaker wires out of the harness, and soldered them onto the corresponding *NEW* speaker wires, and then stuck the harness speaker wires back into the harness. (theres little clips inside the harness that hold the wires in, gently press them down and pull the wires out one, by one, and put them back in one by one, dont take them all out  at once or else youll forget there proper location inside of the harness.
