Question:

Would tightening down the ground to my amp have fixed this problem?

My amp was having this very weird problem sometimes it would work a whole day, powering my sub really loud, but then the next day couldn't even turn it up half way without the sub just cutting out completely, or mostly. It wasn't going into protection, at least the light didn't say it was. So i read someplace that I should check my ground wire and I found it a little bit loose, but hardly at all, so I tightened it down and now it hasn't had the problem YET, and it seems to me to be louder now. Does that make sense? or is it just going through one of its stages of working for now? Its an Infinity amp powering a Polk Audio Momo 12" sub.

  1. I think you answered your own question. Faulty ground is always the place to start troubleshooting. Sounds like it was, grounds shouldn't be loose at all, and should have direct contact with UNPAINTED grounded metal.

  2. thee is a good chance that was it. ive had problems with heat, and how much your trying to push out of the amp. a small box, big sub and a small amp will give you problems like that.
