Question:

Would too warm water make my fish sluggish?

My fish are just hanging out and sitting on the bottom staying hidden in the plants. I've done a 25% water change and my water temp was over 82F and my heater would just stay on all the time. Could the water temperature be too hot for them and make them stay towards the bottom? I fed them and only one came up to feed. They are three zebra danios in a 10 gallon tank.

  1. Seventy eight would be a better temperature.  When it gets too hot, there is less oxygen in the water.  Try using a cup and dipping it in the water and pouring the water back in to add air and cool it slightly.

  2. heat rises, dont need a heater in the summer.

  3. Yes, that temperature is way too warm for them. You should keep it at about 76-78.
